Our curriculum at Tonalea is designed to provide a well-rounded education. Students can engage with a variety of subjects, including English-language arts, mathematics, writing, social studies, science, Navajo language and culture, life skills, and our special education program. This comprehensive approach ensures that students are prepared for success in all aspects of their lives.
We recognize the value of extracurricular activities in fostering personal growth and skill development. That's why we offer diverse options for sports such as cross country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, softball, and baseball. These activities promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills, equipping our students with valuable qualities for their future endeavors.
Our goal is to provide a comprehensive educational experience, combining academic excellence with personal growth. By leveraging digital resources, implementing a holistic curriculum, and offering engaging extracurricular activities, we empower our students to thrive in all facets of their lives.

Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)
During the 2023-2024 school year, Tonalea Day School implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students the advantage of integrated applications, and a robust learning strategy.

Students, parents, guardians, and staff,
Welcome back for the 2023-2024 school year – yet another exciting and spirited adventure in learning. The Tonalea Day School staff has been preparing for students' return, and we look forward to helping every Wildcat reach new academic heights. We are forming teams – teachers, students, and families – working together to ensure students meet and/or exceed all goals and expectations. Together, we'll use holistic teaching strategies that support social and emotional learning, increase literacy levels, and strengthen the community. This is our year of comprehensive learning, communal sharing, and constant growth.
Let us all stay connected with each other throughout this school year, so students are given every chance to succeed. Our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) remains a vital asset to our educational program, and we encourage parents/guardians and community members to participate. When our families and community members collaborate with our staff, Tonalea Day School becomes the best learning environment it can be for students. Students must know they always have the full support of every adult on our campus.
